Bore Da! How good it feels to be Welsh on this fine day. What a superb race that was - terrible conditions, treacherous corners, Nicole Cooke, Pride of Wick, gets herself well positioned for the final break away, and then, despite seemingly being out of it as they came up the last 250m, (she was taking it easy around the final bend), stormed back to the other 4, went early and out sprinted them. None of the commentators thought she could hold on, but I was off the sofa, shouting at the telly, and she did it! Magnificent. Never seen anyone happier to win a medal - she was jumping all over the place, smiling like a banshee, and in all the subsequent interviews she was just so thrilled. Brilliant, brilliant, dusty stuff.
Great article by Fotheringham in Grauniad...

It was the 200th Gold medal in the modern era for the Brits, first for Wales since Munich. BBC highlights ramped up the dust by having a montage of some of the other 200 - starting with Harold Abrahams (him off Chariots of Fire innit) through Anne Packer, Mary Peters, Coe, Ovett, Daley, Goodhew, Moorhouse, Redgrave & Pinsent (booing of course), Gunnell, Edwards - finishing with Hoy then our Nicole. I really must get the hiller koover out to clean up all this dust.
It was gutting for the Lady Archers in the meantime - a surprisingly compelling sport, I found - only at the Olympics! They were gutted, but the Frogs were just more consistent and hit the Gold when they really needed to. So, tin for the archers - but at least they have another chance in the individuals.
